Worst MASS SHOOTING in US History… What a headline – when is enough enough?

My heart is breaking for America.Yet another mass shooting. Why – not because someone decided to take a gun and walk into a Gay nightclub and shoot people – in a “mentally deranged” state, Im not going to say “confused ” as this man knew exactly what he was doing. He knew if he took a gun and armed himself with a tonne of ammunition that he would be heard and he knew if he singled out a gay nightclub he would be heard louder. He KNEW.

The fact is that when Martin Bryant went berko in Tasmania all those years ago – our government had the balls to stand up and DO SOMETHING. Australia took the guns away. Australia took away the ease of access of said weapons and therefore the ability of morons like this one to walk into any where any place and shoot people.

Ok ok – we still have our fair share of morons in this country – I mean take Manmonis and the Lindt Siege – but that man was handed his weaponry by other morons and I bet had the feds known that man had access to a gun Aussie Feds would have been on him faster than you can say MORON.

Wake up America. Your RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS and REDNECKERY are killing innocent people in your country. You give idiots the RIGHT to own guns. Its not just morons like this man who are walking into nightclubs killing people – its little people – in the back of their Mummies cars who have access to Mummies handbag who – oops just  happens to tote a handgun!

Now tell me if Im wrong – but there has been no Zombie apocalypse yet (unless you count the Ice epidemic – from which we also suffer here in Australia – yet we still have no need for handguns and various weaponry) I can NOT think of any good reason that we as humans should have a need to carry a gun to protect ourselves.

Unless we are travelling the interior roads of Australia and being followed by a crazed killer like John Jarret – who  probably shouldn’t have access to a gun in the first place… BUT THATS RIGHT … Movie people – thats a movie its not real life.

There is and should never be unless you are in a position of authority a need to bear arms against another human. Sadly we as Aussies witnessed in real life the other day a shocking attack at a Farmers Market in Hornsby. The fool in question was armed with a knife and innocent bystanders were shot by the police trying to control the situation and the question was raised then – why guns ? Why did that officer choose a gun as her weapon to subdue ? And not a taser or capsicum spray? Why were innocents injured?

Guns KILL – in the wrong hands GUNS KILL. America wake up – take away your outdated stupidity in your constitution that is the right to bear arms. Its time. Enough is enough..

Sunday bloody Sunday

7am on a  Sunday morning – I guess at least its not 4am. The Dog decided that he was going to eat a bone last night that I GAVE HIM – Big mistake as Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman would say  “Huge Mistake”. The furry little beggar  has been rolling around with it on the back deck all night he even used it to door knock me this morning – which is why I am awake. I did my market shopping yesterday, I don’t want to be awake this early on a Sunday. Its a long weekend – and he’s not getting another bone today!

Ok market haul. I also co-run a group and another blog called Sugarblitzers  you can read about it if you click the word. Its got all sorts of recipes we’ve been creating in an attempt to highlight the sometimes dangerous and always stupid amounts of sugar hidden in modern foods. We are not Sugar Nazis – but we are carb aware over there and we do realise our bodies do not need the massive amounts of carbs in modern foods – because frankly even though we are a busy society we are also a convenient society that likes to shove fast , easy and crap filled into our faces to fill our bellies. Oh and this way of Low Carb or Carb Aware eating – it has a side effect. You feel great and you may lose weight! Hows that?

So yesterday I ventured to the Speers Point Farmers Market with my Mate Ms N Corner if you click on that link you will find her often hilarious, heartwarming and wonderful blog. ( She’s worth a follow) . She arrived a little late – because she’s a GYM JUNKIE and LOVING IT and while I completed my purchase and called back TURDBOY who was at a sleepover – she got her bucket of delicious apples. We wandered, we chatted and she bought me a much needed coffee as I had forgotten to eat. I remembered this later when my children found my sourdough still in the toaster – defrosted but not toasted. We also had a conversation about crochet – you see my friend is a talented crochet person artiste indeed and is having her first ever market stall today ( and I am going to visit her again with a bag of oranges and a disc for her dog Scout). I have been inspired by her crochet and not having one crafty or patient bone in my body with looming knee surgery – I have taken it upon myself to teach me how to crochet. ( and Ms N Corner gave me my first hook and wool for my birthday). I am creating a lap rug I think. Its more like a really long rainbow worm. And late last night we decided what I do is FREESTYLE CROCHET and its not craft its art as Ive made my own rules and my own stitch – which I call finger knitting stylishly. (with pretty wool that the cats like to chase).

I also purchased at the markets Meat from the Muswellbrook Meat man – who had lovely juicy Beef Spare Ribs in the back of his truck ( and the can not live without for my children Lamb Cheese and Chive Filler Free Sausages). I visited the Over The Moon Dairy stand where I purchased my latest addiction to go with one of my latest creations – Jersey Milk Yoghurt ( which goes with my Refined Sugar Free Passionfruit Curd and Toasted Almonds – oh god thats good),  and then I found Tar10 , who Ive found before but on my mission of sugar reduction have always dismissed any pre packaged sauces. Well guess what? They are local, they are fresh and they are gluten and refined sugar free – so in my Tar10 bag – I have Roasted Garlic Aioli – we had on my Chicken Schnitzels from the SB Blog last night ( delicious ) and some watermelon and chilli vinegar which the dude at the stall assures me is a great sub for sweet chilli sauce and that with Coconut Aminos is making me a marinade for my spare ribs tonight for dinner! ALL THE NOMS.. Check out Tar10 here . And the deliciousness that is everything Over the Moon Dairy here .

I also bought some lovely roses and plenty of vegetables and my fridge is full of green and goodness and I can’t wait to play in the kitchen later.

Note all of my purchases were paid for and this is not a sponsored post.

Have a great Sunday xoxo Mrs Cuppy

To be a blogger /Digital Entrepreneur

What does this title mean to you? What does it mean to me? As a blogger  -sometimes you feel that you are talking to no one. Its lonely, its scary, its like a deep abyss sometimes. You want to be seen and heard but you don’t want to be seen and heard. And sometimes things pop into your head that scream about being written down and you know – due to content that you possibly can’t write it down.

Combine this with creating an online business and – let me tell you- your mental headspace can be all over the place.

When you create a blog specifically with the purpose of it becoming a business you need to give it 300% of your time energy and most of the time MONEY. It can become an endless pit of emotion and you sometimes feel you haemorrhage money – and the general public assume that because its so visible – it must be successful – yet behind the scenes you’re like a runner who loves running but can’t afford the new shoes. You keep plugging away your feet (fingers) bleeding from the running ( typing) and at some stage you might crack and walk away.

You will contemplate giving up – especially when you didn’t know what to expect with the pace and or you were reluctant to start in the first place.

To become a digital entrepreneur you need to have a stoic athletic mind – you need to not have distractions around you that may yell at you that – its not worth it, its too hard, just walk away. The voices in your head will get loud and often – but you will also have naysayers on the outside ( usually family) who will pull you down too.

The digital entrepreneur – is a 24/7 machine while the build is on. People ( fans) will complain that you fill their feed and some will get cranky and walk away from you. Some will do the sensible thing and turn off the notifications and check in on you every now and then ( they are the ones that are supportive of what you are doing – but are busy with their other interests and will stick around for the long run) Some will pull you down with hate and venom and tell you they don’t like what you have to say and they pull the plug with a tantrum on their face and walk away. ( Goodbye sweetie pie – thats what you say to them and you dig deep and you find your energy again – you eat your pill and keep going).

If you think that taking on a digital business is a walk in the park and not invasive of your privacy and wont overtake every aspect of your life then you need a reality check. Because guess what – it does. Ive done this before and I walked away. Each time you tackle something you get stronger. But you have to be ready for this world. You have a digital shopfront, its not a part time position its your LIFE. Because you now have a fan base watching your every move. AND you need to be aware of this and everything you do and say. Especially if you have struck a chord and you are now being heard.

This little blog used to be heard widely and loudly. But I walked away due to grief and mental health issues ( you will find many bloggers suffer from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and are introverts). We are the watchers, and we are the watched. We are the workers and the under appreciated. We are the silent ones sitting in the corner ,we are the ones who would rather stay at home with a computer and crochet than socialise. We are the silent yet we are the vocal of the digital world.

We are digital entrepreneurs – we are bloggers.

Learning and Coffee

Today has been one of those days. If anything I have learned from being involved in a business previously is that if you have  business partner and you don’t communicate well both of you are usually feeling the same way. And that my friends is OVERWORKED, UNDER APPRECIATED and generally GRUMPY.

This too happens in most relationships . Mr Cuppy and I are renovating like mad people lately and we both feel overworked and deeply under appreciated and as goes with renovating a very old house nothing ever goes to plan.

Mistakes get made – but most can be fixed. And steep learning curves are part of the process. So today – both of us have sucked it up and confronted demons. And quite possibly both of us are feeling much more positive.

Surgery is now looming again with two weeks and three days to go now. Yesterday Mr Cuppy and I got in wood for the fire. And a rather large log fell from a great height onto my foot when someone ( not me) decided to pick up too many bits at once. And it was my right foot, which belongs to my right leg – which sports my right knee – which if my surgery had been scheduled for today – is now sporting a rather large bruise and is fragile and I would have been knocked back anyways.

So things happen for reasons. I guess is the point of my waffle today. AND things will always try our patience especially when you deal with a couple of very different personalities and skill sets.

Anyway – thats life – and I must confess, that yesterday with a head full of sinus, a very sore foot and a massive case of GRUMPY.. I ate pizza – disgusting takeaway pizza. It wasn’t worth it – Im paying the price today. Im a little bloated and I need coffee and panadol.

But at the end of the day – all is resolved and all is good.

Yours… Mrs C. xox

Hello Again..

Some 18 months ago – perhaps longer – I lost my blogging mojo. I had taken time away from a real working life was battling with a bakers cyst and a torn meniscus and monthly visits to specialists in an attempt to get me motivated and moving again after an enforced sedentary lifestyle encountered when I re-injured an already injured knee.

Im 44 years old and have suffered from degenerative osteoarthritis since I was 13 years old and it was palmed off as growing pains. Had I known that a lifestyle of avoiding fat and eating to dietary guidelines would add to this situation causing a lifetime of inflammation and weight gain – I would have shoved that low fat yoghurt back where it came from!

For the last almost 12 months I have tried unsuccessfully to stick to a sugar free diet. I started with the I Quit Sugar Programme – sadly it incorporates glutens and grains – and my body does not at all appreciate glutens and grains, they turn me into a human whoopee cushion! Im also finding that although a good tablespoon of double cream is excellent for an episode of reflux – that overdosing on it also causes gassy emissions. Which on a Keto lifestyle where in Ketosis you already have the smell of an unbathed hobo – you don’t need extra gas to push you along.

So this lifestyle – its about finding balance and foods that a whole and wholesome that suit your body and your needs. You can also have a day where you eat the “wrong thing” ( but in all honestly you don’t particularly feel like it. And its forgiving. By wrong thing – my indulgence is usually a Zambrero Taco Salad sans the tortilla – but I do have the beans and the corn and the jalepeno and the salsa verde… And its usually once in a blue moon. Not all the time. AND its still whole foods. I don’t want the cake, I don’t want the sweets. When even a small cube of 85% dark chocolate is too sweet for you – you know your body has adapted.

Now Ive had friends respectfully say that they can not follow my pages or blogs as I eat far too much fat for their liking. And its true – I eat the fat – because fat is flavour and fat is filling and fat is 99% of the time chemical free. Can I just say now – my body is thanking me for my fat intake ? I don’t use artificial sweeteners, I consume whole dairy when I consume dairy and I don’t remove the fats from my meats. I don’t eat a kilo of butter a week – but I do use butter.

What I don’t do is add unnecessary sugars and highly processed grains. I eat the way the body was intended to eat. I feast when required I fast when my body tells me and it works.

So dear friends you will find links to my carb reduced, refined sugar and grain free recipes on here that will link you up to Sugarblizters. And you will find on here – my personal journey of recovery and regeneration. Along with things I encounter and love along the way including fashion, renovating bargains and of course kitchen gadgets – without which life would be OH SO BORING!

So I hope you enjoy if you follow, I hope to inspire and delight you – and sometimes if Im blue you might even cry. But Mrs Cuppy – she’s back!

Love … L xoxo
